Taste of Ukraine: Sharing Ukraine's Culinary Heritage

On January 25, 2025, Ukraine House launched the "Taste of Ukraine" series to mark Ukraine's Day of Unity, exploring how Ukrainian cuisine embodies sobornist’ – a unity that transcends geography and history. The first dinner focused on soups, guided by Olena Braichenko, author of "Food.Culture", featuring traditional red borsch, green borsch, kapusnyak, yushka, and other regional specialties.
The second event shared Galician Easter traditions with anthropologist Marianna Dushar, exploring the symbolism of the Easter basket and featuring iconic Paska, boiled eggs, and regional Galician dishes that survived the Soviet occupation. Our most recent iteration was dedicated to Crimean Tatar history, culture and cuisine, marking the anniversary of the 1944 deportation. The event featured historian Gulnara Abdulayeva and guest chefs from Musafir restaurant preparing authentic Crimean Tatar dishes including chebureky, yantyk, shurpa, and dolma.
