Nuclear Security, Disarmament,
and Accountability

As Russia continues to occupy the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and weaponize civilian nuclear infrastructure, questions of nuclear security, accountability, and international law have become central to European and global security.

On 5 December, Ukraine House in Denmark, together with @det_udenrigspolitiske_selskab, will host leading experts for an in-depth discussion on the challenges and lessons emerging from this unprecedented situation.

Speakers include:

🔹 Dr. Mariana Budjeryn, Senior Research Associate at Harvard’s Belfer Center and author of “Inheriting the Bomb: The Collapse of the USSR and the Nuclear Disarmament of Ukraine” (2023), will offer insight into Ukraine’s denuclearization and its global implications.

🔹 Senior Researcher Denys Sultanhaliiev and Legal Counselor Yuriy Uhryn from @truth_hounds, co-authors of “Seizing Power: Occupation, Torture, and Nuclear Safety Breaches at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant”, will present their findings on legal accountability and systemic violations of nuclear safety norms.

🔹 Danish experts will provide perspectives on the implications for Danish and European security policy.

This event brings together international scholars and practitioners to reflect on how the weaponization of nuclear infrastructure reshapes global security and the principles that sustain it.

📍 Venue: The University of Copenhagen, room CSS 35.01.44, entrance from Gammeltoftsgade 15, Copenhagen
