Embroidery workshop

🪡 Join us for a hands-on Ukrainian embroidery workshop at Ukraine House 🇺🇦

For centuries, embroidery in Ukraine was much more than ornamentation. It served as a shared visual language encoded into daily life, where geometric rhythms, grid-based structures and symbolic colour palettes were passed down through generations of craftswomen.

Traditionally used to protect, tell stories and mark life transitions, these stitch patterns also laid the groundwork for 20th-century Ukrainian Naïv painting, as self-taught artists adapted the familiar logic of needlework onto canvas.

In this workshop, we’ll explore this bridge between textile heritage and folk art.

Inspired by an authentic pattern featured in a Ukrainian Naïv exhibition, participants will work with a traditional composition featuring a horse and a female figure, exploring its rhythmic line work, classic red-and-blue palette and rich symbolic shapes while learning and recreating naïve embroidery techniques.

📅 22 November, 15:00
📍 Ukraine House in Denmark, Strandgade 27B, Copenhagen
🎟️ 200 DKK

Join us and discover a centuries-old Ukrainian tradition through its patterns, symbols and stitches.
