SEPTEMBER 9 | 16:00-18:00

Book launch: "Førkrigstid"

How do we live with the expectation of war?

Military build-up, great-power rivalry, terrorism and cyberattacks have become part of everyday life in Europe. But living with the expectation of war is nothing new.

On 7 September, we invite you to a book launch and discussion about the particular space between war and peace that we find ourselves in today.

Historian and postdoc Frederik Forrai Ørskov will present his new book Førkrigstid and discuss its themes with Christian Jensen, Editor-in-Chief of Politiken, and Ludvig Goldschmidt, Special Adviser at the Danish Ministry of Defence. Nataliia Popovych, co-founder and Chairperson of Ukraine House in Denmark, will contribute a Ukrainian perspective to the conversation.

Førkrigstid explores how fear of war and catastrophe has shaped politics, culture and society from the First World War to the present day.

The book is part of the series Udfordringer, developed by Nordic Humanities Center. The series is published by Nord Academic / Gads Forlag with support from the Carlsberg Foundation.

The event will conclude with a reception.
