Dovbush on the big screen

ust a little over a week until we journey into the Carpathian Mountains and step into the legend of Oleksa Dovbush on the big screen at @nfbiopalads.

“Dovbush,” directed by @olessanin, is one of the most ambitious productions in Ukrainian cinema — filmed across more than 50 breathtaking locations in the mountains with over 1,000 handmade costumes that recreate the world of 18th-century Hutsul life in astonishing detail.

At the heart of the story are two brothers, Oleksa and Ivan, who rise against oppression while struggling with their own paths: fighting oppression and each other as justice, greed, loyalty, love, and betrayal collide.

A sweeping legend with a heartbeat that still feels modern for Ukraine and the world.

Before the screening, the movie’s Product Designer, Oleksandra Drobot, will talk about her experience working on this magical and ambitious production.
